“Like A Rock” As I continue to grow as an artist, I seem to be consistently drawn to how we as humans can relate to animals and how we can learn or get a message from them. After all, God created and sustains them like He does us. Maybe that’s part of my message, to myself and others, that’s coming out in my art. Considering this, the background for this painting turns out to be hectic, tumultuous and a little noisy. The Elk stands his ground regardless of his surroundings. I was reminded of the famous Bob Seger song as I painted this. Maybe this is a response to my life right now, raising two young kids, growing as an artist, along with all the other things going on. I wish I could be like this big guy and stand like a rock even though things are a little crazy around me. Don’t we all.
