“Intimidation”

My alma mater, the University of North Alabama, was at one time and may still be the only University with a live Lion mascot living on campus.  Leo III is caged and lives beside the President’s home.

This painting of Leo III is in recognition of this fine University that I am proud to be a graduate of.  It is also a tribute to the tradition of the football program at UNA.  At one time we were the only college football program in the country to have won 3 national championships consecutively.

I wanted this painting to represent that tradition and have a feeling and atmosphere that is imposing.   To get this the look had to be just right.  I took over 50 pictures to get the right one or two that had the look I wanted.

I’m only designating 20 Limited Edition Prints of this painting.  Print #2 will be donated to the University.

Go to www.una.edu and click on Athletics and then on Lion Tradition to view a live cam at Leo III’s cage.
